Brown Deer

Brown Deer was "my" Rockledge daughter. Frank said he got her by trading the Weber's son a gun for her. She produced a lovely bay leopard filly for Frank, but was killed when she reared up for the farrier and fell over backwards striking her head. She died hours later. She had such a beautiful coat pattern that Frank had her hide preserved. He showed it to us along with Chub's Powderface. I know Mary Manley had a daughter of Brown Deer, and her most famous son was Chub's El Bucko, a gorgerous black leopard. We however, never got a foal from Brown Deer. She was the sweetest mare one could imagine, although Frank said she bucked aplenty when someone tried to ride her.
