Cheetah F-125 was foaled in 1941. He was bred by T.F. Osment and Son, Chouteau, Oklahoma. The Osment breeding program not only bred Appaloosas, but CRHA horses (lost Rangerbreds that they did not recognize as CRHA horses), Palominos, and NQHBA horses. His description states "grey with white hip blanket with black spots" in an advertisement (with photo) that appeared in the January 1961 Appaloosa News.

The ApHC Stud Book shows the pedigree of this Foundation numbered stallion to be sired by an unregistered horse (no breed) named Duke; out of an unregistered mare (no breed) named Cherokee. AllBreed lists the sire as an unregistered Appaloosa and the dam as an unregistered Appaloosa. Sadly such a pedigree is typical on AllBreed as it is done by someone who has no knowledge of factual pedigrees, and only wants to show as much Appaloosa in a pedigree as possible.

The 1961 advertisement shows a somewhat different pedigree for Cheetah F125. This pedigree shows that his dam was in fact an unregistered Appaloosa mare, but his sire was not an Appaloosa, but an unregistered QH whose roots go to the very early sires of the breed, with multiple lines to Cold Deck.

In fact his sire Duke was an unregistered QH, sired by the unregistered QH Smuggler. Smuggler was sired by Tubal Cain [1901-1918] (have also seen Tubercane). Tubal Cain was sired by BerryÕs Cold Deck [1873-1904] ( Cold Deck X Dolly Croker by LockÕs Rondo), out of a mare named Lucy Maxwell (AlsupÕs Red Buck X linebred Brimmer mare). SmugglerÕs dam was an unregistered mare named Lady Fox, who was sired by Grey Wolf, a son of Young Cold Deck [fld 1888 Ñ have also seen 1894] (BerryÕs Cold Deck X Bertrand Mare).

AllBreed adds to SmugglerÕs pedigree, showing Lady FoxÕs dam to be Lady Wolf Jr sired by Grey Wolf. This would make Lady Fox the product of a stallion breeding his own daughter.

CheetahÕs dam Cherokee is noted as an unregistered Appaloosa sired by Cold Deck, a son of Steel Deck, and therefore not the original Cold Deck [1868-1892] or Young Cold Deck. Her dam, who would most likely have provided the Appaloosa genes is not known, although it is possible that some of the old pre-registry QH lines may have carried Appaloosa genetics..

Cheetah F-125 sired several ApHC registered foals. But he also sired OsmentÕs Black Gold NQHBA 2025 (out of Ola B. NQHBA 436), foaled in 1945. AQHA records show the registered name is actually OsmentÕs Black Gol 01, which would explain why other researchers have not been able to find this record with AQHA. The AQHA records does not show a sire for this horse, but only the dam Ola B. Ola B., a grey mare, was owned by the Osments and was a maternal granddaughter of Grey Wolf (maternal grandsire of Smuggler). The AQHA records show the sire and dam of Ola B NQHBA 436, as being Billy Red NQHBA 767 (Red Devil -NR-QH X Daisy -NR-QH), and Gray Ruby -NR-QH respectively. Other sources show that Gray Ruby is sired by Grey Wolf. It should be noted that the NQHBA did in fact register Appaloosa colored horses, which negates the claims of incorrect pedigree that Cheetah F125 sired a NQHBA registered horse..

The Osment program also had OsmentÕs Ginger NQHBA 742, Silk NQHBA 743, Gray Dollie NQHBA 746, and Bootsie NQHBA 747, all maternal granddaughters of Smuggler (son of Tubal Cain). Gray Dollie NQHBA 746 and Bootsie NQHBA 747 were half-sisters to Silver Lace ApHC F184 through their dam Dollie (by Smuggler QH-NR). The ApHC Stud Book lists Dollie as an unregistered mare of unknown breeding. Red Sioux ApHC T2748, bred by the Osment program, was sired by Duke QH-NR (son of Smuggler), making her a half-sibling to Cheetah F125. The ApHC Stud Book lists Duke as an unregistered stallion of unknown breeding.

Tubal Cain (Tubercain) lines in the Osment program were found in multiple horses besides Cheetah ApHC F125.The mare Virginia Dare NQHBA 437 was sired by Dave Mack, a son of Tubal Cain. Virginia Dare would produce Steeldust O NQHBA 1192. Vanity Fair NQHBA 2026 was a maternal granddaughter of Dave Mack as well as a paternal granddaughter of Idle Jack QH-NR (by Tubal Cain). The mares Ola B. NQHBA 436, Silk NQHBA 743, Gray Dollie NQHBA 746, Bootsie NQHBA 747 were paternal granddaughters of Red Devil QH-NR, a son of Idle Jack QH-NR (sired by Tubal Cain).

The Tubal Cain line can also be found in other Appaloosas: Heaven Hill T52483, EkinÕs Copper Penny T7188, Rexine T742, Red CloudÕs Dynamo Twist 108817, Dusty Time T255333, CR Robin Twist T298120, Deacons Dude 558548, MinerÕs Dream 518360, Jr.Õs Curiousity T363014, Twisters Dusty T143779, Deacons Robin 569930, Go Go Chicaro T273323, MinerÕs Pizazz 499056, and many others as Deacons Dude has over 25 progeny.

One of CheetahÕs foals is Sweetheart R F2653/T986. AllBreed shows her dam to be an unregistered QH named Montie (Van Dorn {TB} X Maud by Texas Chief). This pedigree may not be correct. This mare is a product of the Osment program and Osment was pretty set in his bloodlines. In fact Osment had the bloodlines of two different mares named Montie in his programÐ Montie (by Buck by Calf Roper) who produced Concho NQHBA 439 (fld 1942) for Osment, and Montie (by Old Red Buck AQHA P-9 by BlakeÕs Red Man) who produced OsmentÕs Gold Dust NQHBA 3687 (fld 1946) for Osment. It is very possible that the second Montie is in fact the dam of Sweetheart R. This Montie is sired by Old Red Buck AQHA P-9, who is a son of Red Man aka BlakeÕs Red Man (sired by Tubal Cain). Old Red Buck AQHA P-9 (by BlakeÕs Red Man aka Red Man) sired an unregistered mare named Daisy, which could be the same Daisy that produced Billy Red NQHBA 767 (sire of Ola B. NQHBA 436).
