A little bit of followup from JoAnne (Freeman) Hemming: A Òcousins reunionÓ in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 2011, put me in touch with Albert Freeman, the son of a man I had always known of as Uncle Sid.Ê Sid Freeman was actually my late fatherÕs uncle.Ê Sid was a child when his family immigrated to Saskatchewan from England in about 1908 to homestead on the Canadian prairie.
Imagine my surprise when, after I came home, I ÒgoogledÓ Sid Freeman and your site came up with the entry [of Squaw Sox S]:
I had always heard stories about Uncle SidÕs appaloosa and in fact, I had asked my 85 year old cousin [Albert Freeman] about it last summer at the reunion:
ÒBeautiful horse, my fathers pride and joy. Ò said Albert.
ÒBroke AlbertÕs heart when they sold that horse to some folks from Texas.Ó injected his wife, Doreen.
ÒLast time I rode her was in a parade in Moose JawÓ, Albert continued.Ê "They wanted her in the parade, so they did, but I was the only one could ride her besides my father.Ê Went out to Archive and rode her in to townÊ the night before.Ê She kicked up a helluva racket all night out in the shed behind our house, so she did, but I got her saddled up and away we went in the morning.Ó
Doreen again picked up the story.Ê ÒScared the life out of me that day.Ê Albert got one boot in the stirrup but when he went to swing up, that horse took off like a shot.Ê I was afraid heÕd be killed.Ê I was working at EatonÕs then and when the parade came up Main Street we all went to the windows to watch.Ê I was so scared that horse would be spooked by all the people and noise on either side but Albert handled him fine.Ê What a sight it was!ÊÊ That horse was prancing up that street sideways.Ê I donÕt know who was prouder Ð me, Albert or that Appaloosa.Ó
I donÕt know if that horse was the ÒSquaw Sox SÓ mentioned in your list but if not, it must have been a relative.Ê Thanks for the confirming information on your site which I will add to the Freeman family history I am writing.

The mare [Nile Time 13074] is quite nice for a 1953 model. She's listed in the [1962 Dobbin sale] catalog as being sired by Little Buddy (AQHA) and out of Blue Tone (ApHC/F-4791) by Coke T., and out of a Blue Mare by Ding Bob P-269 and out of a "Roberds Mare."
None of the bottom side [of Nile Time] can possibly be correct. Blue Tone was foaled in 1948. Coke T., or Prince as Coke called him, was foaled in 1920 and died in 1940. Coke sold him in 1937 to Charles Redd of La Sal, Utah.
Marshall Peavy's Old Blue Mare (Bob H. x Roan Mare by Primero) was foaled in 1918. She was never bred to Coke T.
I recall Cecil telling me he found Nile Time up in north central
Colorado. I think he just gave her a pedigree befitting the area she
was foaled in.
